The role:
We’re looking for an IT Specialist who will manage certain operations within our cloud infrastructure, user accesses, hardware provisioning, and IT systems. This is a hands-on position where you’ll have the opportunity to work on a range of responsibilities, and learn new things along the way.
What you can expect from the opportunity:
- Provisioning and Configuration: Setting up virtual machines, storage, and networking in the cloud, managing configurations to meet performance and security needs.
- Migrations: manage user migration for new entities including setting up email accounts, permissions, and shared drives.
- User Access Manage: Establishing role & group - based access policies and ensuring setup. This includes setting Gsuite permissions and access (Shared drives, folders, etc), Slack, any other tools.
- Remote Work Support: Provide first-line support for remote employees, troubleshooting issues with secure access solutions (e.g., VPNs). Follow security best practices to maintain compliance in a remote environment.
- Developing and Implementing Hardware Standards: Establishing guidelines for provisioning IT hardware, including defining which roles or departments receive specific types of equipment (e.g., laptops, desktops, monitors) based on job requirements and company policies. Ensuring that employees have the appropriate technology to support their roles effectively.
- Asset Management & Tracking: Documenting all new and existing hardware acquisitions and tracking asset assignments to employees or departments. Develop process for reporting, tracking, and securing devices that are lost or stolen, including remote-wipe capabilities where applicable
- Lifecycle Management: Tracking each asset’s lifecycle from acquisition to decommissioning, including routine maintenance, upgrades, and repairs.
-Inventory Management: Conducting regular audits to verify that assets are accounted for and match the inventory records
- Onboarding: In collaboration with respective team managers, establish a standardized onboarding with regards to all software and hardware needs. Managing the issuance of hardware and software to new hires
- Offboarding: ensuring all equipment is returned, and securely wiping data on returned devices.
- Device Encryption and Security: Ensuring that all tracked devices meet security standards (e.g., encryption, anti-virus) to protect sensitive data, specifically to align with a remote work environment
- Employee Support & Training: Educating employees on asset management policies, responsible usage and how to report lost or damaged equipment.
- Backup and Recovery: Establishing and managing backup strategies for cloud-based data and applications, ensuring fast recovery times.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Creating and testing disaster recovery plans specific to cloud infrastructure, including cross-region replication and failover.
- Incident Response Plan: Defining and maintaining an incident response plan that includes steps for identifying, containing, and mitigating cloud-related incidents.
Who you are:
- Proven experience managing IT operations, including hardware procurement, asset management, and IT inventory tracking.
- Understanding of IT security best practices, such as antivirus software, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and related tools.
- Expertise in user access management across platforms such as G Suite, Slack, and other tools.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate cross-functionally in an effective manner
- Demonstrated resourcefulness and adaptability in dynamic environments.
- Ability to think critically, troubleshoot effectively, and provide innovative solutions to complex challenges.
- Prior experience working in a startup environment or a fast-paced, high-growth organization.
- Strong reporting skills
